Keeping the Tanks Full at K & K Farms
Bringing Fuel, Tools, & Service Directly to the Field

As a lifetime farmer, Benson Keil of K & K Farms knows just what it means to maximize productivity in the field. For multiple generations, K & K Farms has been a staple in north central Kansas. From beef cattle to soy beans, Keil and his family have many acres to tend to— which means the operation relies on several key pieces of equipment to keep things running day in and day out.
Inevitably, the equipment that is necessary to run a successful business is going to have downtime. Whether it’ s simply refilling the gas tank or if something is broken down, having the right tools on hand is essential to getting equipment back on the field quicker.
For Keil and his crew, they know this to be true. And with fields that span more than 25 miles, taking the extra time to bring equipment to a central refueling station is not always feasible.
That’ s what motivated Keil to be in the market for a fuel trailer.“ We had just bought two X9 combines with a quick-fill system,” said Keil.“ We were looking for a fuel trailer that could deliver 60 gallons a minute through an inch-and-a-half hose while still having an inch hose for filling some of the other equipment.”
The benefit of a fuel trailer is that it brings the necessary fluids and tools right to the field, where equipment is operating and where equipment breaks down. Whether it’ s topping off a combine’ s fuel tank after a full day of harvesting or checking the tire pressure of a tractor in the field, a fully equipped fuel trailer is capable of keeping all equipment running with a full tank.
That’ s exactly what Keil was looking for— a solution that would allow him to save time and keep equipment moving. The alternative to incorporating a fuel trailer into his operation meant bringing the big rigs back to home base every time a fuel tank was empty, which could be an hour-long round trip.
“ Before the fuel trailer we’ d take one pickup and load up everything we thought we needed in the back of the truck and hook onto our conventional fuel trailer, which had diesel exhaust fluid, a limited amount of oil in 2.5-gallon jugs, and
